Kerala is stinking

Kerala, God’s own country, one of the most favoured tourist destination in India, has now taken a beat from improper waste dumping and management. The state is in the news for all the wrong reasons. State capital Thiruvanathapuram (TVR) is in the spot light b’coz of the Vilappilshala (a village in TVR ) issue. Villagers staged a protest against the dumping of waste and even against the order of High Court, they blocked the vehicles which brought solid wastes to the waste management plant.  Villagers made it clear that they are not going to bear the burden of city’s waste. They warned the authorities about the consequences if they try to send in more disposal vehicles. The protesters were mainly women and children, so the Police had to be careful dealing with them. Since the option of Vilappilshala plant also seems to be closed, the question in front of authorities being, what to do with the wastes? and how t...

Are we Indians?

We are degraded into a bunch of bigots. All the events that happened recently, point to our intolerance. Let us consider India as a big family, then how long do you think  a family can persist with intolerant family members fighting each other. Why do you think India has this unique “Unity in Diversity”? . B’coz we, Indians used to respect others and their differences in views and perspectives, that is the reason why our history shows the adoption of outsiders as one of our own, who came here to conquer and get conquered by this country’s culture & people, thus becoming a part of India.   A little bit History It begins with Indus valley civilisation, then came Aryan influence thus starting Vedic era. Many famed written manuscripts belong to this era, then came the era of social change in the form of Budha and Mahavira. This duo influenced Indian and even Asian conscience. India’s famous empires,  Maurya empire, Rashtrkutas, Silahar etc are highly influenced b...

Education – a generalized view

I don’t know why i always think of writing about, is it b’coz of the poor condition of our current education system or is it me? what ever may the reason, i guess no one would argue about the fact that it is education business rather than education service which is going on. Everyone is busy gluing long degrees to their names. Now a days one can’t even say that it is education that we are getting from schools and colleges it is certificates and degrees. Our government is experimenting  with the education system, they have no idea which scheme to settle with. Today one of the main aim of basic schooling has become learning English language, everything else is secondary. But it is worth mentioning that some of our states have attained excellent result by luring children to schools and have basic education, the problem that overshadows this achievement is the quality of the education. A child lost at this stage is lost forever. B’coz at lower level children should get quality educat...

I am the One

It is my entry to the contest " Sets You On Fire! ". May be to most of you it isn't a big deal but for me it is. If you are a person who believes in principles and morals then you would understand this situation.                It was getting darker and chilling cold was creeping inside through my sweaters,i ran hurriedly to the bus stop. i have to catch the bus as the frequency of bus service to my place is not that appreciative. Luckily bus got stuck in traffic light, i can see it from the bus stop. Bus halted, i got in, along with other passengers. The bus was unusually empty.i thanked Mr.. Government vs People

I think our government has a different idea of democracy, in simple sense it is "majority rule" but in India, it is the other way around, the majority is being manipulated by a few political and business barons. Even common people are showing the tinge of this greediness for power and money. In our economy 50% (majority) of people are below poverty line and other 25-35% are middle class (upper and lower) and the rest includes this  millionaires, billionaires and political barons. And this les than 25% has a significant influence in almost everything that's going on in our country, they control "News", "Media" and even influence "bills" presented before Parliament. Government and it's sermonizers till day were successful in making people believe Business and Industries are the only hope left,  anything that will animate business would be a boost to our country economically for that they start to present people with statistics,” game of num...
