Death

What happens when, one day you come to know that the person you were playing with, eating with, fighting with suddenly cease to exist. That’s a cruel reality every mortal have to deal with. The physical and emotional void it creates is unexplainable. Physically we cannot fill the void, so emotionally we try to compensate it by ....well...you all know how we try to recuperate from our losses. I believe that its almost impossible to be selfless. Whatever we do, we do it directly or indirectly for ourselves. Our emotions, we do crazy things to satisfy them. A week back, I happened to hear the worst news in everyone’s life, yes “Death”. Every one was sad to hear the news, me too. We all went to see the lady who had passed away. She was lying on the cold marble tiles, with just a white dhoti wrapped around her whole body showing only her ice cold face. It looked like, the death had captured her last emotion on her lifeless face. Everyone in the room put on a heavy, sad face. Th...

Ants, Me and MY Niece

They get into the taxi along with their wheel bags and suitcases. Taxi started to fade away as I looked by. It resembled a mini-truck stuffed with loads of sand bags. Hands came out of the speeding car waving goodbyes. I waved back at them. The summer heat produced a mirage effect, as the image of speeding car rippled. Now, I am alone in the big apartment. My family, they are off to visit the home town. There is nobody to control me. I am free. It felt like you have got the password for someone else’s admin account. That day, I left the office a little early. The work was as usual hectic and stressful. Metro transit is where I like to spend time. I read most of my favourite books on my transit. I have to walk for 5 minutes from metro station to reach home. On my way back home there is a small store running by an old man who has the most beautiful white beard I have seen, just like Christmas Papa, Daily, I wish to buy muffin cakes stacked in a beautiful glass cabinet in front...

A trip to remember

Everyone likes to travel. Some travel alone, some with friends and families. It is engraved in our soul. Even the laziest of mankind needs to travel. The latter was a reference to me, of course. Traveling with friends are always fun. So me and my friend Vipin, decided to escape from the boring reality of daily office life. The main problem we faced was that he resides at Kerala and I am here in Delhi. After a long lethargic session, we decided to go to Sikkim, the land of serene beauty. We wanted it be a memorable one. we were like two kids who have got their hands on a new set of Playstation, we were at cloud nine. At last....... we are going to be alone, without any worries & responsibilities of the life.  5 th November 2016 It was a fine morning I was having a tea, reading the newspaper waiting for my turn at the bathroom.  My phone rang, it was him, Vipin. I picked up, Me: Hi Vipin: Hi, Where are you? Me: At home, why? V : We are going, right? I...

The bloodsucking Yakshi

When I was a kid, April and May fell in the list of my favourite months. Not because it's going to rain and there would be mud all around, but those are the months my cousins would be here at our family house, in our hometown in Kerala. Those are the memories I would cherish forever. My grand-mother has 5 offsprings, 4 boys and a girl. My father is the second eldest of five. Then, he was the only one staying in Kerala and everyone else was in different parts of India, a Pan-India Family one could say. We were all present, it's like Parliament, shouting, laughing, scolding children, people everywhere, busy doing their chores. An outsider entering the home can still go unnoticed. Life was less complicated then. We were just ........just ourselves. Everyone you valued dearly is with you. It's like, the world has shrunken to a square block of bricks and mortar. Now it's all feel like a fairy-tale, one of the best things about joint-family. We are all tired of day's...

HOME

The flight touched down, sending a sudden jolt through my body. I looked outside through the aeroplane window, the view of lush trees and vast paddy field was refreshing. I was happy, delightful, kind of felt reborn. The Pilot applied the brakes, I can feel the inertia which made me throw forward in the seat even after the 500-tonne flying-giant came to a halt. Same thing happens with the life. At the end,  all those beautiful moments which we enjoyed would be the one which will give us a reason to keep on going even after our lives become stagnant. When you leave your hometown, it would acquire an amount of nostalgia to it. Since I am a grown man and it is childish to be home sick so...... I could only feel nostalgic. Home is where your stories are born and it will get wings by the experiences we accumulate through journeys and after being tired of flying around for a while, you will have to go back to the place where you feel cosy , where you...

A story with a Point

There are two types of Opinion, Direct and Indirect. Direct opinions are created by first-hand experiences and the latter is conceived from other's experiences. The effect, a first hand experience leaves on you is remarkable. Such was my experience with Delhi Police. I've always harbored a negative opinion against Delhi Police. Mainly due to the incidents reported in newspapers and like as I said earlier, from indirect opinions. And I tell u, this one incident changed all of that. I don't know whether you can look at this incident as an anecdotal evidence but it is. Today when I was in transit in metro, my pocket was picked near Chandni Chowk metro station. It was very crowded and was too late before I noticed. Thanks to the Prime Minister there wasn't much in my wallet. But I have my credit and debit cards in it. I blocked my cards right away, as a precaution. The guy who picked my pocket would have been disappointed and cursed me, such was the condition of my wa...

The Storyteller

"Those who tell the stories, rule the world”   - proverb She was fascinated by the story he was telling, she never t ook her eyes off of his face. There is a spark of curiosity and joy in her beautiful little black eyes. One can see the joy and pleasure of hearing the  story spreading from her little eyes to her beautiful face. She loves to hear bedtime stories. When her dad asks her, which one today? She always picks fantasy. She loves to hear about winged creatures t hat rule the sk ies , people who can fly and disappear, A ngels, talking trees and mountains etc. She always wants her dad to be the narrator . She likes his crisp and soothing voice. One day, he came home tired , a hectic day. He refused to tell the story and scolded her for being obstinate. That day she didn’t sleep and the whole night she wept which made her eyes swollen . After that incident, he never dared to say no to her. It was a long hectic day. The whole day went bad for him. He was ...
